Every Day in Every Aspect I Am/We Are Progressing More and More: Bosnian and Herzegovinian Cinematography from 1947 to 1992

This exhibition arose out of the desire to draw attention to the rich film heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is simultaneously present and unknown in popular culture. The exhibition seeks to unravel the film reels of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to present the filmmakers and workers of Bosnia and Herzegovina through history and to stimulate reflection on the complexity and challenges of filmmaking – showing the world and life of film from “behind the scenes”. The bedrock of the exhibition is the heritage of three production companies: Bosna Film, Studio Film and Sutjeska Film. Chronologically, the exhibition covers the beginnings of organized film production in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1947 with the establishment of the first production company Bosna Film, the transformations in the organization of film production that lead to the establishment of Studio and Sutjeska Film, until the 1990s and the beginning of the 1992-1995 war.

Who were the pioneers and actors of Bosnian cinema? Under what circumstances were films produced in Bosnia and Herzegovina? What topics did the filmmakers cover? How was a film made? These are some of the questions through which the exhibition Every Day in Every Aspect I am/We are Progressing More and More? Bosnian and Herzegovinian Cinematography from 1947 to 1992 seeks to create a platform for dialogue about the rich film heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is also our contribution to the establishment and development of the future Film Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The exhibition was realized in collaboration with the Sarajevo Film Center.
